What Is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy which uses a state of deep relaxation and focused concentration to achieve a heightened state of awareness. It is not mind control or brainwashing. You cannot be tricked into changing your mind or your life unless you choose to make that change. Hypnotherapy is NOT the same as hypnosis, although hypnosis is central to Hypnotherapy. The difference lies in the intention.

Hypnosis can be for entertainment whereas hypnotherapy has the intention of providing a therapeutic result. Both hypnosis and Hypnotherapy can be used to relieve symptoms of chronic conditions such as asthma, chronic pain, and migraine headaches. Both make use of post hypnotic suggestions to help change habits. Both can be used to relieve phobias, anxiety, depression or PTSD.

Yet Hypnotherapy is also employed to relieve trauma and memories carried over from previous lifetimes, as well as explore more esoteric and universal concepts such as the purpose of the individual's life, our relationships with historical characters, or even to uncover information from a higher Source which will help all humankind.

The "therapy" part of Hypnotherapy is foremost in its practice.

Since any form of psychotherapy is based upon a trust relationship with the therapist, before experiencing Hypnotherapy you should talk with a trained Hypnotherapist and become acquainted with the methods and procedures you will encounter. You may wish to read about
self-hypnosis on this website to gain some idea of what to expect. The methods of hypnosis are very similar, but the trained therapist knows how to handle trauma and experiences which you cannot touch on in self-hypnosis.
